Ceremony.

“Ceremony holds us in a space where we can stand in our humanness and our own true nature…..giving us the opportunity to connect with the heart and soul of the mother who cares for us in all her nature. It is about taking people on a journey that brings them into a space that initiates creative learning and builds creative relationships with self, community and Country.”

Invitation to Ceremony.

Gumbaynggirr Jagun offers traditional practices of the Gumbaynggirr People with a contemporary approach that is relevant to today and to people from diverse backgrounds.

Our ceremony is about bringing people into connection with each of their ancestors under the guidance and support of ‘the Old Fellas’ (Gumbaynggirr Ancestors) who are already holding the energy and place for each person that enters through Gumbaynggirr Jagun.

Entering into deeper relationships with self, community and Country through Gumbaynggirr Jagun can transform the way you carry yourself on this earth and ground your life and work in the nourishment and strength of Country.

Murlarla.

Murlarla brings people into circle to discover their place on Country through exploring totems. Totems bring us into relationship with the land and waterways of Country and they hold us in place by giving us our responsibility to Country. This comes from clan and personal relationship with Country and is different for Gumbaynggirr and non-Gumbaynggirr people.

Waluugirr.

Waluugirr provides the opportunity for people to practice connecting with Country through story, dance and song. When participants can learn and understand how to create connection with Gumbaynggirr Country they can gain an understanding of how to use this learning in their life in order to realise their own purpose.

Garlawaygam.

Garlawaygam provides an opportunity for people to celebrate the journey that Gumbaynggirr has shared with them and to take the opportunity to give back to Country. Giving back to Country will take place through uplanting, learning about and how to use bush tucker and medicinal plants.
